The test is run open circuit (w/o regulator and connection to other wiring so is a valid way of testing. Before I spent any money I would double check the tests and make sure it was by the book. I think there is also an ohms test for the stator windings. Alternator is in left side cover and magnets are on flywheel and current carrying coils around it. If they ohm ok, but still no output, probably magnets in flywheel are not any more. Max
